Varun Dhawan’s latest social media update is not about a film announcement, a glamorous appearance, or an upcoming project. Instead, the actor has found himself thinking deeply about something much closer to the ground — quite literally.

After recently purchasing farmland and beginning to explore agriculture, Dhawan has raised concerns about the condition of agricultural soil. What Exactly Is Soil Nutrient Depletion?

Magnesium is another nutrient mentioned by Dhawan.

It has a particularly important role in plants because it sits at the center of the chlorophyll molecule. Chlorophyll is essential for photosynthesis, the process through which plants convert light energy into chemical energy.

Magnesium also participates in enzyme activation and other plant functions.

However, saying that soil is “missing magnesium” is not enough to determine what should be done. Soil chemistry is complicated. Nutrient availability depends on factors including soil pH, organic matter, moisture and interactions between different nutrients.

This is why agricultural experts generally emphasize testing rather than simply adding more of a particular fertilizer.
